Wyndmere Naturals, Inc., established in 1995, is a small, woman-owned business located in New Hope, Minnesota with Cyndi Trachy as the majority owner and President. Wyndmere’s Story: An old friend who had been living abroad approached me in 1995 with an idea – it’s difficult to find high-quality essential oils in the US, so let’s start an aromatherapy company. She was crazy…wasn’t she? Leave my career, in my peak earning years, when I have a young family to support? Turns out, she may have been on to something. Months later I found myself measuring Lavender into cobalt blue bottles in my basement while my husband built display stands every evening in his workshop and my son and daughter sniffed countless formulations of custom blends to see which ones worked.

We then somehow convinced stores to put our oils on their shelves. We went from one shelving unit to two, and then five. We hired employees and expanded into Wyndmere’s first warehouse in 1999. In those early days, we would scoot around on rolling chairs in the warehouse wondering if we would ever fill up this space. That question was soon answered as we grew from one to two warehouse bays, and then a larger building, and in 2016 into a larger building still. Our Wyndmere family grew in number and diversity as we added a sales team, a production unit, and a shipping department. For twenty-five years now, Wyndmere has adhered to its mission of bringing the highest quality essential oils and aromatherapy products to the market as affordable. Of the essential oils produced each year, 96% are produced for the open market to be used in the food, fragrance, and cosmetic industries. We only import from growers who supply the 4% of the market dedicated to aromatherapy. This means that their plants are grown, harvested, and distilled with the goal of maximizing and preserving their natural therapeutic qualities. We care that the essential oils we sell are pure, genuine, and highly effective. We source essential oils that are grown by farmers skilled at environmentally sound practices of maintaining their fields, harvesting under peak conditions, and selecting distillers who have expertise in extracting the highest quality oils. We have been at the forefront of introducing aromatherapy into the medical community and have earned the trust of medical professionals because of the quality and effectiveness of our essential oils. Our oils are used in hospitals, hospices, clinics, and by professional aromatherapists. Our products are used to support the emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being of our customers because we believe in the value that quality essential oils bring to the whole person. From day one we have refused to abandon these core principles, and it is our pledge to you to never stray from this mission.

When I reflect on Wyndmere today, I see each stage of its past as well as its future. From its past, I see one woman hand-labeling bottles in her basement late into the evening. Today I see our twenty employees laughing and chatting at a recent potluck. As for our future, when I look at my daughter’s face, I see a young child who helped me pack orders in the basement growing into a defiant teen and then a strong confident young woman eager to help run the business – the second generation. And when I look at my young granddaughters, I wonder, will they be the third generation?
